Whereas denying the right to choose abortion will not curtail abortions but will send desperate women to dangerous, unlicensed clinics; and
Whereas, the right to choose, as established by the U.S. Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, is now threatened; and
Whereas policies initiated during the Bush administrations have hindered family assistance groups in their family planning programs; and
Whereas poor women have become particularly vulnerable due to their dependence on government health care programs; be it, therefore
Resolved that candidates for the U.S. Supreme Court demonstrate a strong commitment to a woman's right to choose; and be it further
Resolved that the government be denied the ability to intervene in medical treatments, including abortion, that a woman requests from her doctor; and further
Resolved that all medical records remain totally private and unavailable to the government; and further
Resolved that the government adequately fund universal family planning and gynecological services, including abortion procedures, to all women needing government assistance
