[FWD] Democrats Defeat Online FOS (Freedom Of Speech) Act

What is going on here?
I'm really concerned about this, and VERY puzzled. Why would the
DEMOCRATS defeat this and the REPUBLICANS support it?

Basically this would have created a sort of bloggers' "Shield Law",
as I understand it.
WHY did the DEMOCRATS vote to defeat it?

Aha! I get it!
The Online Freedom of Speech Act is to online political fund raising what the Healthy Forest
Initiative is to the Logging Industry.

Democrats voted AGAINST this bill b/c in addition to
the possibility of providing "shielding for bloggers"
= good, it would also (quote from the article
referenced below)
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2005/11/03/internet_campaign_exemption_defeated/
"exempt all Internet communication from
campaign-finance regulations, dealing at least a
temporary defeat to a bill that would allow unfettered
political advertising -- and unlimited spending -- in
the vast frontier of cyberspace."
did they do the right thing? HELL YA! it is
unfortunate that the shielding of bloggers, etc... is
lost, but IMHO this was the method the Repugs used to
make this bill "acceptable" - ya know?
do you agree?
