Justice staff called GOP remapping plan illegal, memo says
How they win - you realize that they also carried out this type of
illegal redistricting in Florida (Jeb Bush pulled that one off
successfully too) and they recently tried it in California, but
Arnold's ballot initiatives were STOMPED.
ah... what's it to a Bush appointee that EVERY member of the agency
(6 lawyers and 2 analysts) who reviewed the latest redistricting in
Texas, (initiated and carried out by the now indicted for money
laundering and criminal conspiracy by 2 separate juries Republican
favorite - Tom Delay), stated it was illegal!
ah... who cares that the minorities aren't represented? Republican
leadership.
A Justice Department memo released Friday showed that agency staffers
unanimously objected to the Texas plan, which DeLay pushed through
the Legislature to help elect more Republicans to the U.S. House.
Senior agency officials, appointed by President Bush, brushed aside
concerns about the possible impact on minority voting and approved
the new districts for the 2004 elections.
